My web developer’s life journey

I immediately developed a love for technology when I was in my early days. Being the child of a farming family in Cambodia, the prospect seemed to be that my world was getting computerized quite too fast, and literally, the only choice I had in the matter was to become part of the newly created virtual community. My quest for knowledge and especially the experience of working through the language barrier started as a student at Touk Meas High School, where I didn’t allow fear to be the last word in me. There was a wish in my heart to see the invisible but never spoken world—the blooming of a real scholar out of me. This resulted from completing BAC II in the year 2015; a scholarship to study information technology at the Faculty of Engineering, Royal University of Phnom Penh (RUPP) was offered to me. It was really a great opportunity for me.

I was fully immersed in coding, creation, and management of databases. It was not an easy task, but I made it. The nights spent correcting errors and coding consistently, the sleek interface with smart math was designed, and more were key in reaching the coding field and organizations related to it. I woke up to my success with my graduation on September 23, 2019.

Starting from the beginning of 2018, I worked as an intern for OPTISTECH CO., LTD. This allowed me to obtain a lot of useful practical experience. At this position, I learned web development, mobile application development, and database systems, all of which continue to be a big part of my specialization.

My first professional position as a web developer with PBLCNT in the years 2018-2020 allowed me to gain valuable industry experience. My responsibilities included the analysis, design, and development of websites, user experience optimization, and collaboration with various teams to create effective and attractive websites.

I moved to ARDB in August 2020 because I knew I could grow more, and I was promoted to Senior Web Developer in short order. I worked on more significant tasks, handled sophisticated database systems, and developed improved online services. With my knowledge of HTML, CSS, JavaScript, PHP, Boostrap5, WordPress, Laravel, and Prestashop, I was able to create WordPress theme,SEO, apply google ads, apply google Adsense, apply Google analytics, apply google search console, plex systems ,optimization websites for working fast and test website speed with Google pagespeed insights.

Outside Work: Study, Volunteering, and Self-Development

In July 2023, I began taking a UX/UI course at IT Academy STEP in Cambodia with the intention of continuing to learn as well as develop their skills in building user-friendly and easy-to-use applications and systems.

Along with work, my technology interests motivated me to engage in socially responsible activities. In 2017, I joined a volunteer program in Kampong Speu Province, which is part of a service-learning program coordinated by Polytechnic University, Hong Kong. This helped me improve my communication as well as teamwork skills.

My Vision of the Future

Being skilled in various areas such as web and mobile development, database management, graphic design, and digital marketing, I am looking to set new standards and implement cutting-edge ideas. My proficiency in Google Ads, Google Search Console, Google Analytics, and Google AdSense allows me to steer through digital paths perfectly.
One of the goals I have set for the future is to be a content creator, build my own website, and sign up for Google AdSense to earn money as a source of my living standard as I grow older. I am very enthusiastic about the creation of something new and the dissemination of innovative ideas everywhere. In addition, each line of code I work with is a tiny piece of the constantly developing world of technology in Cambodia and in the world in general.
I actually look forward to a career that would allow me to fulfill two sides of my life: working and traveling, being myself, and indulging in simple pleasures. I have always visualized owning my own little place, a quiet spot to create and discover the world on my terms. My longing brings me joy and lights the way for me through not only a journey “career-wise” but also in how I use and navigate life itself.
What is more, I desire to keep learning and reading books and develop my mind. No human can ever have all the knowledge the world has to offer, and so each new skill, every book, and every experience help me to be the best version of myself I can be. I am of the opinion that every step of mine toward continuous learning will pave the way to new opportunities and, therefore, a future filled with possibilities.
